THINGS TO SEE AND DO The main activities for the visitor to Yap include scuba diving (diverse marine life - including tuna, dolphins and reef fish - and excellent visibility) as well as ocean kayaking, mountain biking, hiking or deep sea fishing. Yap is steeped in ancient traditions, fascinating legends, and its people are one of the most distinctive cultures in the Pacific. Enjoy cultural village tours, dancing (lively and colourful), and handicrafts. The people are shy, but warmly welcome those who respect and appreciate their lifestyle. Their traditional life includes fishing, sailing and weaving. Grass skirts for the women and thu'us, a type of loincloth, for the men are the basic dress found in the towns.
