Honeymoon Islands in Fiji
There are over 300 beautiful island destinations in Fiji so if you are planning your honeymoon in the South Pacific you are sure to find one just right for you! What a beautiful and romantic escape after the pressures of planning your wedding and the excitement of the wedding day itself. Cast off from your mainland way of life and head for one of the Fijian paradise resorts for your honeymoon island getaway.
You will fly in to the busy tourist town of Nadi, which is on the western side of the main island called Viti Levu (Fijian for big Fiji as viti means Fiji and levu means big in the Fijian language). The main island is quite large taking a couple of days to drive around, and although there are many romantic places to stay on Viti Levu, maybe you are looking for something more remote and isolated?
If so, then one of the top regions for romantic island resorts is the Mamanucas. These are a glittering array of smaller islands not far from the Nadi area coastline. You can get there either by a fast speedboat or island transfer from Port Denarau, which is just about 15-20 minutes from the International airport. The journey is very picturesque and you will soon spot the Mamanuca islets, surrounded by azure and turquoise lagoons and encircled by white sand beaches. If you wish you can reach some of the resorts by float plane, and the journey from Nadi takes only about 8-10 minutes before you descend gently from the blue sky and skim along the lagoon, finally alighting at a jetty and greeted by the friendly Fijian staff. Helicopter charters are also an option for some resorts. And on two islands - Mana and Malolo Lailai - there is even a small runway that is serviced by small domestic aircraft direct from Nadi International.
The Mamanuca island group is not the only romantic island escape, of course. Check out the fantastic Yasawas, or the wonderful adventure and romance destinations of Taveuni, Qamea, and Matangi in Fiji's friendly northern group. Exotic and quintessentially romantic, these island destinations offer seclusion and top quality places to stay for honeymooners and wedding couples.
