TURTLE ISLAND RESORT WINS AWARD
Turtle Island Resort has been named the Most Excellent Resort North America & Pacific by Conde Nast Johansens in their 2002 Awards of Excellence. The award, recognizes outstanding examples of excellence in hotels, resorts and inns in defined geographic regions. It was one of 15 presented awards at a recent ceremony at The Dorchester in London. GEORGE HARRISON LIVES ON AT LOMALAGI
Former Beatle George Harrison visited Lomalagi in Vanua Levu with his wife a few years ago and will be remembered for an exclusive performance at the nearby village. Harrison joined in with the villagers who were singing Fijian songs before borrowing a guitar and treating the villagers to a rendition of the Beatles songs. At the end of his holiday on Lomalagi Resort, Harrison sent a set of new instruments for the villagers which included guitars, ukulele, a small percussion instrument and ukulele strings. Harrison also sent a dozen Beatles cassettes for the rugby coach in the village and the American expat owner of Lomalagi, Ms. Collin McKenny. More information can be obtained from Lomalagi Resort

FIJI JAZZ FESTIVAL TO FEATURE INTERNATIONAL MUSICIANS
The Fiji Jazz Festival scheduled for April at Sonaisali Island Resort promises to be an event to look forward to, with performances from internationally recognised musicians. The festival from 6th - 9th April 2002 is being supported by Air Pacific and the Fiji Visitors Bureau. Performers such as David Paquette who has worked with Steve Martin, Fleetwood Mac and Spike Milligan will provide the entertainment at the Festival, together with The John Boutte Quartet out of New Orleans as well as Ingrid Lucia & the Flying Neutrino's, who are Madonna's favorite band.
