Luxury Hotels in Fiji
Most of Fiji's luxury hotels are found on Denarau Island, which is joined to Nadi on the mainland via a small causeway bridge. There are others to be found in Nadi itself, and along the Coral Coast to Suva. The outer islands of Fiji do not typically feature this kind of accommodation at all, as they are primarily beach resort destinations with individual bures rather than providers of rooms.
Denarau Island was originally covered by mangroves but was reclaimed and developed as a resort island in the 1960s. Its transformation into one of Fiji's top hotel vacation destinations is remarkable. Properties here include the Sheraton Resort, Sheraton Denarau Villas, the Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, the Sofitel Resort & Spa, WorldMark at Denarau Island by Trendwest, the Hilton Beach Resort & Spa, and the newly completed Radisson Resort Fiji Denarau Island. The latter was completed in early 2007. These luxury destinations share the island with an 18-hole championship golf course, racquet club, residential estates featuring million-dollar private homes, Port Denarau marina, and shopping facilities such as the recently opened retail and commercial centre adjacent to the marina.
Along the Coral Coast one finds a number of resort hotels that offer individual bure accommodation as well as traditional hotel-style rooms. These include Shangri La's Fijian resort on Yanuca Island, the Outrigger on the Lagoon at Korotogo, then further along the coast is the Naviti Resort and The Warwick, both of which belong to the Warwick group and include premier accommodation to travellers worldwide.
Accommodation provided includes well-appointed rooms with en-suite facilities featuring modern bathroom fittings.
