Exotic Travel in Fiji
Fiji Islands is one of the top exotic travel destinations in the world, combining a rich and colourful culture, with rare birds and flowers, pristine reefs, and tropical scenery. Thousands of travellers visit the Fijian archipelago each year, all discovering the unique and wonderful experiences available to those who take the adventure of a vacation here.
Although colonised by the British from 1874 - 1970 during which time cannibalism ceased and Christianity became the main religion, Fiji retains the mystic culture of its pre-history, with many ceremonies, legends, and rituals testimony to a pre-history culture. Its language, dance, music, village life and superstitions endure the passing of time and for the visitor to Fiji this means the chance to experience the way of life and the friendly Fijian people and customs that have not been wiped out by over-indulgent tourism activities. The people are what makes the country into a unique and exotic travel experience.
In addition to the culture and the indigenous Fijian lifestyle, enjoy seeing a Fijian meke (dance) display, or eating succulent pork, fish, chicken and tropical root crops roasted in a pit of hot rocks called a lovo. Not to be missed during your holiday. The kava ceremony is a traditional form of social interaction and respect, and Fijians will be pleased to tell you of the customary routine for participating in a kava drinking session.
Th unique landscapes and island formations in the archipelago are also home to some rare and beautiful flora and fauna. In Taveuni there is the legendary and beautiful Tagimoucia flower (approximately in November - January time) as well as the Orange Dove and Many Coloured Fruit Dove. On some islands in the lower Yasawas there lives the rare Crested Iguana. These can also be seen in captivity at the Eco Park on the Coral Coast at Korotogo. Travelling to the Fiji Islands offers a wealth of adventures filled with exoticism.
