Adventure Vacations in Fiji
Fiji Islands offers those looking for adventure vacations a variety of exciting holiday packages with activities to satisfy everyone from soft adventurer to extreme sports enthusiasts. The main choices here include where you wish to go and what you want to do!
The islands in Fiji's northern region include Taveuni island and Savusavu on the adjacent larger island of Vanua Levu. These two areas are well-known for active holiday options they can provide. Savusavu is a quaint Colonial-era outpost built around a beautiful bay by the ocean. A feature is the protected marina, dotted with sailboats and ocean-going yachts, which is a hub for sailing enthusiasts coming to Fiji. The resorts, hotels and lodgings in this area also offer fishing adventure specials and trips, scuba diving, hiking, mountain biking and ocean kayaking.
On nearby Taveuni the fun continues. Called the 'Garden Island of Fiji', Taveuni is a soft-adventure paradise. Catch wahoo, walu, mahi mahi and barracuda - or even marlin! - on a game fishing or deep-sea fishing boat trip. Experience some of the best world-class diving and snorkelling in Fiji on the famous Rainbow Reef. Hike in the rainforest and cool down in the refreshing pool below a waterfall - Taveuni has many! Kayaking, horseriding, mountain biking ... there is much to enjoy here.
Another excellent region to consider is the island of Kadavu in Fiji's south, a more remote area and close by its eastern tip is one of the world's largest reef systems - the Astrolabe Reef - offering incredible diving opportunities. On the western end meanwhile is a well-known surfing resort on the small island of Nagigia, just off the tip of Kadavu. If you are looking for adventurous activities on the main island, try Pacific Harbour for great fishing, kayaking, sailing and diving on the nearby Beqa Lagoon reefs. In fact, for the true adventurer, book a shark feed dive and watch the local Fijian dive guides hand feed large sharks while you watch! Or maybe stay at Bukuya village in the highlands outside of Nadi and go eel-fishing and pig-hunting!!
