Bukuya Alpine Eco Centre
Bukuya is a small village nestled high in the Nausori Highlands that surround Nadi. Getting there is a half the fun, with an unsealed road winding up to the highlands that offers spectacular views and photo opportunities looking back at Nadi and its offshore island groups of Mamanuca and Yasawa. In the hills, the climate is less sticky and not so hot, but not really "alpine" !. This is budget, homestay-style accommodation with basic facilities and amenities. However, it offers the opportunity of really experiencing the real Fiji, to meet the friendliest people on earth, and participate in local activities and everyday life, such as eel-fishing, pig-hunting, waterfall trek and birdwatching. It is an experience you will always remember, but is not the destination for those looking for resort or 5-star accommodation. Run by the village itself, the Eco Centre has modest accommodation and camping or homestays in the village itself can be arranged.
