Kosrae, called ’the sleeping lady’, is covered with dense tropical jungles and high volcanic peaks, with lush river valleys, a rich heritage and spectacular views. The island is surrounded by fringing reefs teeming with tropical fish feeding off the spectacular corals with visibility exceeding 100’. The coral reefs slope steeply into the clear blue depths and is one of the great attractions of Kosrae.

Kosrae is the second largest and eastern most island in the Federated States of Micronesia. Lying 5 degrees north latitude and 163 degrees east longitude, it is north-east of the Solomon Islands and halfway between Hawaii and Guam. Kosrae is a single island state of 42 sq. miles and is one of the most beautiful islands in the Pacific. Kosrae is in the same time zone as the Solomon Islands or New Caledonia, Greenwich Mean Time plus 11 hours.
Kosrae is accessible by Continental Airlines. Air Mike, as it’s known here, has been flying to the islands of the western and central Pacific since 1986. Numerous East and West bound flights make Kosrae easily accessible even for short diving vacations.
The Kosrae International Airport, in Tafunsak Village is located at the northern end of Kosrae. The air terminal features handicraft shops, food service, and car rental agencies.
Kosrae’s airport currently handles direct 737 flights to and from Honolulu and Guam, with connections through Majuro and Pohnpei.
When you arrive at the airport in Kosrae, our bus will be waiting for you. Taxis, car and moped rentals can be arranged once you arrive at the resort.
A 16 room complex, it is beautifully located in tropical gardens with full restaurant and bar facilities. plus the only swimming pool on the island. At the Kosrae Nautilus Resort you will find friendly comfortable surrounds just a stone’s throw from your own private beach. Each room is air-conditioned with 2 double beds, a fridge, 24 channel cable TV, tea/coffee making facilities and daily room service.
Dining & Entertainment
The licensed restaurant at Kosrae Nautilus Resort offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Western and local food is served. We also offer pizza. For those who want to dine in the comfort of their own room, daily room service is available from the same menu as the restaurant, with no extra service charge. Each room also has tea/coffee making facilities and a mini bar stocked with beer, soft drink and drinking water.
Kosrae remains an unblemished garden of flowers and citrus trees. It is a place to explore on foot or by car. While exploring, you can follow a guide up Mt. Omar to visit multiple cascading waterfalls, or WWII Japanese caves hidden in the lush jungles of this island paradise.
Just a 3 minute drive from the Kosrae Nautilus Resort you can explore the 15th century Lelu ruins.
Also paddling through the winding mangrove channels in our kayaks is an experience not to be missed.

One of Kosrae’s greatest attractions is the clear, clean ocean and living coral reefs that completely surround it. Offshore the coral reefs slope steeply into the clear blue depths. Both vertical drop offs and undulating profiles of cascading corals appear before you as underwater visibility averages 100 feet plus, The reefs comprise hundreds of densely packed coral species, attracting an abundance of marine life. A diver could observe 30 to 50 species of fish in a single dive. Large numbers of turtles inhabit the waters of this island paradise. You may even be treated to the resident spinner Dolphins jumping & playing beside the boat on your way to or from a dive site.

We visit Kosrae’s best dive sites every day. Due to the shape of Kosrae, there is always a sheltered side of the island (in case the trade winds blow a little hard). Our dive guides have a wealth of experience and will cater to your every need. Kosrae’s waters have gained an international reputation as a diver’s paradise. The island has some of the most pristine reefs in Micronesia and is perfect for photography. Underwater photographers will be amazed at the water visibility and diversity of the reefs ecosystem.
Our dive boat is a 27’ purpose-built dive boat with full shade cover and a 250h.p. motor making daily trips (except Sundays) to the best dive sites FAST! We leave the resort at 8.30 a.m. for a two tank dive with lunch on board and return between 2:30 to 3:00p.m. We run drift dives and the boat is waiting at the end of the dive to pick us up, which makes for easy diving. On board are weights, tanks and lunch which means you can stay all day.
A trip through the mangrove forest is like a visit to another world. Follow meandering channels overarched by a majestic canopy. Wildlife abounds. Fish swim lazily through the tea colored water and birds chatter in trees above. Mangrove forest surrounds the island of Kosrae. For most visitors mangrove swamp conjures up unpleasant visions of a mosquito infested, foul smellIng wasteland. Nothing could be further from the truth. The mangrove forests of Kosrae are a place of beauty and solitude. The mangroves are not quite sea and not yet land.
