CONNOISEURS CHOICE 2002 : Resorts & Great Hotels (US) has honored Taveuni Island Resort with the award of ’Resorts & Great Hotels Connoisseurs Choice 2002’ in recognition of an extraordinary commitment to the highest of the hospitality services, amenities, and the overall guest experience. Taveuni Island Resort also received this award in 2000.

Location
The resort is accessed from Nadi International Airport by local domestic airlines - Air Fiji or Sun Air. The flight is around 40-50 minutes. You will be met at the airport, and escorted to the Resort just a few minutes further along the coast. Surrounded by acres of tropical landscaped gardens, the resort is set on a hillside by the beach, overlooking the ocean.

Accommodation
Accommodation comprises 12’bures’combining traditional Fijian style with elegantly styled interiors, king-sized beds (or twin beds on request), indoor and private outdoor courtyard showers and wonderful views.

There are 10 Luxury Bures, 1 Luxury Duplex Bure and 1 Luxury Villa with stunning views. All bures are perfect for couples looking for a romantic and intimate setting.

Dining & Entertainment
Intimate, stylish dining, with Fijian, Indian and continental dishes prepared by the chefs, and garnished with organically grown salads, herbs and vegetables. Meals are served on ’The Deck’ which has breathtaking panoramic ocean views. Candlelit dining in the evening.

A fine wine cellar specialising in New Zealand and Australian wines complements the gourmet dining.

Romantic dinner for two can be arranged, complete with your own waiter and musician.

Room service is also available, from 7:00am to 8:30pm daily.

Coffee and tea facilities are provided in your room along with fresh baked cookies each day.

Facilities include ceiling fans,stand-up fans, coffee and tea facilities, mini bar, king sized beds and hair dryers, robes, and airconditioning.

Activities
Taveuni is known as the ’Garden Island’ of Fiji, with rainforested slopes leading down to the shore. There are activities both on the land and in the water.

Land-based activities include village tours, trips to wonderful waterfalls, visit to where the 180 degree meridian (former dateline) crosses Taveuni, bird-watching, hiking, and horse riding. There is also a scenic 9 hole golf course about 30-40 minute drive further down the coast.

Water-based activities (in addition to the Resort’s beautiful horizon pool) include swimming, snorkelling, fishing (handline and sport fishing), kayaking, and scuba diving. The resort overlooks the Somosomo Strait - renowned for its spectacular world-class diving is available, notably on the Rainbow Reef. Dive sites there include the famous ’Great White Wall’.

Dive gear is available for hire. Dive courses can be arranged.
