Tourism received a boost with the introduction of Global Roaming by Connect, the Internet company. Visitors can access their own internet accounts in their home countries while visiting Fiji, at a fraction of the cost on an overseas phone call.

$8m Development for Vanuatu's famed Iririki Island
The island in Vanuatu's Port Vila harbour that's home to the prestigeous Iririki Island Resort is to have another two top-of-the-market resorts built on it at a cost of $8m but each will be self-contained and unseen from both each other and the existing resort. One will comprise thirty-six allotments for either permanent homes or part-time homes with lease-back through Iririki for use by holidaymakers, and the other a 6-star spa resort with 20 units and a fine-dining restaurant. The projects will be completed in 2003. Iririki is just 3-minutes by private 24-hour ferry from Port Vila's shopping and business centre.

FIJI HOSTS MORRIS MEETINGS AND INCENTIVES GROUP
Fiji's share of the US incentive market is expected to increase after a visit from the Morris Meeting & Incentive (MMI) Top Performers Group from the United States at the end of June. The visit was coordinated by Air Pacific and Travel Arrangements in conjunction with their Fiji counterparts, in particular Sheraton Fiji Resorts, Outrigger on the Lagoon Fiji, Shangri-La’s Fijian Resort, Blue Lagoon Cruises, Captain Cook Cruises, South Sea Cruises, Rivers Fiji, Tourist Transport Fiji, and Ka Levu Cultural Museum. MMI President Tony Swenson, Senior Sales Director Jackie Fox, FVB Regional Director USA Joe Tuamoto and Air Pacific (USA)'s Don Creswell were part of the 30-strong group, which visited Viseisei Village as part of their exciting 6-day tailor-made itinerary. Mr. Jo Tuamoto, Regional Director USA stated, "we are confident that the visit will boost our marketing efforts targeting incentive travel in USA".

Centra Suva is one of nine hotel properties named in an international branding exercise. The nine hotels will come under the Holiday Inn brand as part of BHR’s rebranding of many Parkroyal and Centra
properties in the Asia-Pacific region. BHR has exciting plans to
position the Holiday Inn brand as the benchmark in the mid-market
category, targeted at leisure and business markets.
