CLIMATE Being a tropical maritime climate, American Samoa has two distinct seasons. During the hot and rainy season from December to April, temperatures go up to 300 C and three centimetres of rain may fall on a typical day. However, the heat is tempered by tradewinds and the cooling effect of afternoon downpours. May to November is cooler and drier, with less humidity and pleasantly cool evenings.
