Mango Bay Resort
In addition to receiving the Fiji Excellence in Tourism Award for Budget Accommodation Viti Levu mainland, the Mango Bay Resort continues its innovative Fiji Budget travel promotions. Australian high school leavers typically celebrate the "end of school" with celebrations. Known as Schoolies Week, it is an annual event, occurring around November/December. Last year the Mango Bay Resort on Fiji's Coral Coast created special 'Schoolies Week Celebration Packages'. It was a successful campaign, encouraging many young Australians to visit Fiji for their end of school reward. Mango Bay have just announced that they intend expanding this one week period promotion to FOUR weeks at the end of 2008, and the budget travel packages are now available. International Crab Races at Mango Bay Fiji!
Every Monday night deals are being done and money exchanged all in the name of the Mango Bay Resort International crab race. This 'international' crab race event has 10 countries represented where guests can bid for the desired nationality of the hermit crab. The guest with the highest bid owns the crab that will be entered into the main race.
Once the bidding has been completed the crabs are placed within the centre of the circle and then released. The owner of the first crab to cross the line takes the winner prize money for first place. For owners of a crab that are a bit a slow to cross the line there are also runner up prizes to be won. If your chosen crab crawls into the B circle or the T circle the owner of the crab wins a FREE beer or a tequila shot!

Bouma National Heritage Park
Bouma National Heritage Park on the island of Taveuni in the Fiji group, is another community based ecotourism enterprise supported by the New Zealand Official Development Assistance programme. The latest development at Bouma is a dedicated tourism transport service. This provides a regular daily service for tourists, seven days a week. Pick-ups can be arranged from anywhere in the Matei area to Tavoro (Bouma) Waterfalls, Lavena Coastal Walk and Lodge, Vidawa Rainforest Hike and Waitabu Marine Park. Times are flexible and suit full day trips if required. This new service can also cater for bigger groups on demand, and offers very competitive rates.
